Accessibility statement

We want everyone to be able to use Rentlo. This statement applies to the website rentlo.de, the Rentlo app for Android and iOS and the rental company area.

Standard

We follow the European standard EN 301 549 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA as well as the requirements of the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG).

Compliance status

rentlo.de and the Rentlo app are partially accessible. The assessment is based on our own review in October 2026.

What has already been implemented

• All pages adapt to the screen size and can be enlarged up to 200 %.
• Sign-in, registration, account, legal texts and the reporting form can be used without a mouse and have visible focus indicators, labelled form fields and clear error messages.
• Texts have sufficient contrast; meaning is not conveyed by colour alone.
• We build new controls, such as votes in Shorts, as buttons or sliders with keyboard operation and labels for screen readers.
• Maps from Google are not needed to find or book a vehicle; location and distance are always also shown as text.

Known limitations

• Keyboard and screen reader use: In parts of the app and the website, individual clickable elements (for example cards, filter chips and icon buttons) cannot yet be fully reached by keyboard or are not labelled. We are converting them step by step into accessible buttons.
• Shorts: Videos from rental companies have no subtitles or audio description. Important information about the vehicle is also available as text on the vehicle page.
• Images: Not all vehicle photos have a meaningful text alternative.
• Maps: The Google map view can only be used to a limited extent with screen readers.
• Documents: Invoices and booking confirmations as PDF are not yet consistently tagged for accessibility. The information is also available as text in your booking and in the confirmation email.

General description of the service

Rentlo is an online marketplace for rental vehicles in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. You search for vehicles by location, period and equipment, request them from commercial rental companies or book them instantly, pay online, communicate with the rental company in the chat and document pick-up and return in the app. You can use it in the browser or in the app, by touch, mouse or keyboard.
