Rules for Shorts, comments and votes
Shorts are short videos and image series in which rental companies show their vehicles. These rules keep the feed pleasant and safe for everyone. They summarise § 16 to § 18 of the terms of use; in the event of differences, the terms of use take precedence.
Who can publish Shorts
- Rental companies whose business document and ID Rentlo has checked and whose payout account has been set up, and the Rentlo team.
- Every Short of a rental company is linked to one of its active vehicles.
- Before publishing, the rental company confirms the rights confirmation.
- Shorts of verified rental companies appear without prior manual review, after an automated check (contact details in the caption, malware, format) and conversion. The same checks apply to a changed Short.
- A human reviews reported Shorts (see below); we also remove violations after publication.
What is not allowed in Shorts
- phone numbers, email addresses, links, messenger names or other ways of making contact outside Rentlo, including in the image,
- prices in stickers and prize draws without terms of participation,
- illegal races, dangerous or reckless driving, driving without a seat belt or with a phone in hand,
- content that endangers children and young people, and sexualised depictions,
- recognisable people without their consent and readable licence plates of other vehicles,
- music, videos or images to which the rental company holds no rights,
- discriminatory, offensive, threatening or misleading content, such as false information about the vehicle,
- content unrelated to vehicle rental or advertising for other platforms.
Stickers and votes
- There are two voting stickers: the Love-o-Meter (a value from 0 to 100) and the Poll (two to four fixed answers).
- Questions and answers may not ask for personal data, state prices or promise prizes. Once votes have been cast, the question and answers can no longer be changed.
- Only signed-in customers can vote, once per sticker. You can change or withdraw your vote. Accounts with rental company or staff access do not vote.
- We only show results in aggregated form and only from 5 votes per sticker. The rental company never sees who voted how.
- Votes are opinions on the Short, not reviews. They influence neither reviews nor the order in search and feed.
- Multiple accounts, purchased or automated votes are prohibited. We remove such votes and may block voting.
Comments
You can comment with an account. Comments appear with your display name. Insults, threats, discrimination, spam, contact details and links as well as personal information about others are not allowed. A word filter holds back obvious insults.
Reporting
- With an account: via "Report" on every Short and every comment.
- Without an account: via our reporting form. Enter the link or identifier of the content, the reason and an explanation.
- People who report receive a confirmation of receipt and our decision if they provide an email address.
- If three different accounts have reported a Short or comment, we hide it provisionally until a human has reviewed it. Reports from one account count once.
How we decide
A human reviews the report on the basis of the law, the terms of use and these rules. Depending on the severity, we reject a Short, remove it, remove individual stickers or images, restrict visibility, block commenting or voting or suspend an account temporarily. We choose the mildest suitable measure.
Those affected receive a statement of reasons: which measure we have taken, which facts it is based on, whether it is based on a report, whether automated means were involved, which provision or rule the content violates and how to object.
Objection
You can object to any decision, including the rejection of a report, within six months: reply to our notification or write to info@rentlo.de. An employee other than the one who made the decision reviews your objection. Your right to go to court remains unaffected.
Repeated violations
Anyone who repeatedly posts manifestly illegal content or repeatedly submits manifestly unfounded reports may be suspended for a reasonable period after a prior warning. If we receive indications of a criminal offence that threatens the life or safety of persons, we inform the competent authorities.
