This English translation is provided for information. The German version is legally binding. Read the German version

These general terms and conditions ("Terms") are also our terms of use. They govern how you use Rentlo in the browser and in the Rentlo app. Rental companies are additionally subject to the terms for rental companies. How we process your data is explained in our privacy policy. This version applies from 1 November 2026 (transition for existing users: § 25(4)).

At a glance

Rentlo connects, the rental company rents. You conclude your rental contract directly with the rental company. You see who that is before every booking.

Free for renters. You only pay the total price shown. Rentlo charges you no fees.

Pay securely. You pay online via our payment service provider Stripe. If the rental company offers it for a vehicle, you can also pay in cash: 10 % online as a down payment, the rest in cash at pick-up.

Requests are free. It only becomes binding when you tap "Book and pay" and the payment goes through.

Best price guarantee, Club and gift vouchers. Found it cheaper elsewhere? We make up the difference. In the Rentlo Club you collect points; you get the benefits of your rank with Club partners. You redeem vouchers when booking.

§ 1 Provider, platform and scope

(1) These Terms govern the use of the Rentlo platform via the website rentlo.de, the Rentlo apps for Android and iOS and all other digital access channels, including interfaces.

(2) The platform is provided by M2 Innovations GbR (partners: Melik Dogru and Melih Deniz), Meisenweg 8, 53119 Bonn, Germany, email info@rentlo.de ("Rentlo" or "we"). Further details are in the legal notice.

(3) These Terms apply to all natural and legal persons who use Rentlo as renters ("customer" or "you"), as rental companies or in any other way (together "users").

(4) Rentlo operates an online marketplace for rental vehicles of all kinds in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, for example small cars, vans, SUVs, sports cars and wedding cars. Commercial rental companies offer vehicles there; customers search, request and book.

(5) Deviating terms of users only apply if Rentlo has expressly agreed to them in text form.

§ 2 Role of Rentlo and services

(1) Rentlo provides the technical infrastructure through which rental companies list vehicles, customers search for, request and book vehicles and both sides communicate with each other.

(2) Rentlo's services include in particular:

  1. user accounts with sign-in by email and password or via Google, Apple or HyghsoftID (§ 3a),
  2. the presentation of listings, rental company profiles and Shorts (short videos and image series),
  3. search and filter functions including the AI search "Ask Rentlo" (§ 5a),
  4. request and booking functions,
  5. the chat between customers, rental companies and Rentlo customer service as well as notifications by email and push,
  6. processing payments and online deposits via our payment service provider (§ 8),
  7. handover and return reports and reviews,
  8. the Rentlo Club, vouchers and the best price guarantee (§ 11a, § 11b),
  9. security, verification and moderation functions and customer service.

(3) Rentlo is an intermediary. Rentlo is neither the owner nor the keeper of the vehicles offered and does not become a party to the rental contract between rental company and customer.

(4) The respective rental company is responsible for the listing, vehicle condition, availability, insurance, handover, performance of the rental contract and decisions about the deposit.

(5) You can see who your contracting party is (company name, legal form, representatives, address, contact, register and VAT ID) before booking in the "Contracting party" step, in the legal notice on the rental company's profile and in your booking confirmation. Only traders rent out vehicles on Rentlo; this is based on the rental company's declaration on registration, which Rentlo checks (§ 4).

(6) How we sort search results is explained under How ranking works.

(7) We continuously develop Rentlo. Individual functions may change or be discontinued as long as this is reasonable for you and the core of our service (searching, booking and paying) remains. There is no right to permanent availability; we announce maintenance in advance where possible.

§ 3 Registration and user account

(1) You need a user account for requests, bookings, the Club, votes, comments and other functions. You can view content and report illegal content without an account.

(2) Only persons who are at least 18 years old and have full legal capacity may create an account. Customers must also meet the requirements set by the rental company for the respective vehicle (for example minimum age and years of holding a driving licence).

(3) Rental companies may only offer vehicles if they are entitled to rent them out as traders, carry on their business properly and hold all required permits and insurance. Private individuals cannot offer vehicles on Rentlo.

(4) Your information on registration and use must be complete, correct and up to date. This applies in particular to name, address, contact details, date of birth, company details, identity document and driving licence data and vehicle-related information. You update changes without undue delay.

(5) There is no right to registration, activation or publication of content.

(6) Your account is personal or company-related and may not be transferred or made available to third parties without our consent. Rental companies can give employees their own access via the team function. You keep your access data secret; if you suspect misuse, you change your password and inform us.

(7) Several customer accounts of the same person are not permitted without our consent.

(8) If you were already a customer or rental company on the previous Rentlo platform, we have transferred your account. When you sign in for the first time, you confirm it with a code sent to your email address and set a new password. These Terms apply from your first use after the transfer.

§ 3a Sign-in with Google, Apple and HyghsoftID

(1) Instead of email and password, you can also sign in with your Google or Apple account or with HyghsoftID. The terms of the respective provider also apply.

(2) Rentlo only receives the information the provider releases for sign-in (usually name, email address and an identifier). With "Sign in with Apple", this may be an email relay address from Apple. Rentlo is not responsible for the availability of these sign-in services; you can additionally set a password for Rentlo at any time.

§ 4 Verification and security

(1) Rentlo may verify accounts and content before activation and during use, in particular identity, driving licence, trader status, register and tax information, proof of insurance and payment account.

(2) As long as required evidence is missing or there are justified doubts about identity, entitlement or lawfulness, Rentlo may restrict individual functions, withhold listings or block bookings. We tell you the reason (§ 18(5)).

(3) Listings and Shorts of a rental company only appear once Rentlo has checked its business or register document and the ID of its authorised representative and its payout account with Stripe has been set up. After that, we publish new listings and Shorts without prior manual review of each item; the automated checks under § 18(3) and moderation after reports (§ 18) apply.

§ 5 Rules of conduct

(1) You use Rentlo only within the applicable law and these Terms.

(2) In particular, the following is not permitted:

  1. false identities or incorrect information,
  2. using other people's documents or data,
  3. technical manipulation, automated mass queries (scraping), use of the interfaces without approval or circumventing protective mechanisms,
  4. harassment, threats, discrimination, insults or deception,
  5. illegal or misleading content or content that infringes the rights of third parties,
  6. advertising for other platforms or offers without Rentlo's consent,
  7. passing on contact details in order to deal outside Rentlo (§ 15),
  8. misuse of vouchers, invitation codes, points or the best price guarantee, for example via multiple accounts,
  9. any use that impairs the security or functionality of Rentlo.

(3) In the event of violations, the measures under § 18 apply.

§ 5a AI search "Ask Rentlo" and automatic translations

(1) With the AI search "Ask Rentlo" you can describe in your own words what you are looking for. Rentlo turns your text into search filters. The AI search is an aid: the information in the listing and in the booking process is decisive, not the wording of the search result.

(2) Before we send your search text to our AI service provider, we ask for your consent. Without consent, only our own search parser evaluates your text. Please do not enter personal information in the search text. Details are in the privacy policy, no. 8.

(3) Texts of rental companies may be translated automatically (§ 16(4a)). Automatic translations are labelled as such; in case of doubt, the rental company's original text prevails.

§ 6 Listings

(1) Rental companies keep their listings complete, correct and up to date. This applies in particular to vehicle, year of manufacture, condition, equipment, location, minimum age, prices and all unavoidable costs, additional services, delivery, excess, deposit and deposit types, payment types (online or cash), mileage rules, rental terms and cancellation rules.

(2) A vehicle can only be booked if the rental company has stored its own rental terms or has expressly adopted Rentlo's model rental terms.

(3) Rentlo may reject, hide or remove listings if there are specific indications of violations of the law or these Terms (§ 18).

§ 7 Request, booking and conclusion of the rental contract

(1) The presentation of a vehicle on Rentlo is not yet a binding offer.

(2) Depending on the rental company's settings, you can request a vehicle or book it instantly. You can see which applies from the button in the booking process.

(3) Request: A request is non-binding and free of charge. The rental company can accept or decline it within the period shown; the period is 24 hours, but ends at the latest at the requested start of the rental. After that, the request expires. If the rental company accepts, you can complete the booking with the "Book and pay" button.

(4) Instant booking: For vehicles that can be booked instantly, you complete the booking directly with the "Book and pay" button.

(4a) Individual offer: A rental company can send you an individual offer in the chat or via a link (vehicle, period, fixed price, kilometres, deposit and included services). It is valid until the time shown, at the latest until the start of the rental, and the rental company can withdraw it before then. An offer via link can only be accepted by someone who is signed in and has uploaded the required documents; an offer in the chat only by its recipient. On acceptance the booking is confirmed by the rental company; it becomes binding with "Book and pay" and the payment (para. 5). Discount campaigns do not apply to individual offers; Club benefits with Club partners and vouchers do.

(5) By clicking "Book and pay" you make a binding offer to conclude the rental contract; the contract with the rental company is concluded upon successful payment, for cash payment upon successful online down payment (§ 8a). Before that you see the contracting party, total price, payment type, deposit, rental terms and cancellation rules.

(6) The content of the rental contract consists of the information in the listing, your choices in the booking process and the rental company's rental terms in the version displayed at the time of booking. You receive the confirmation with all contract details by email.

(7) Rentlo is neither a party to the rental contract nor responsible for its performance, amendment or termination.

§ 8 Payments and processing via Rentlo

(1) You pay rental prices, additional services and online deposits via Rentlo. Payment is processed by our payment service provider Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd. (Dublin, Ireland). You see which payment methods are available (currently card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Klarna, Revolut Pay, iDEAL, Bancontact, eps and TWINT) when paying. Online payment is the standard; cash payment is only possible under § 8a.

(2) Rentlo accepts payments for rental contracts in the name and for the account of the rental company. With your payment to Rentlo or Stripe, your payment obligation towards the rental company is fulfilled in that amount. The invoice for the rental is issued by the rental company; Rentlo creates it in the rental company's name.

(3) Contact details (phone, email), the exact pick-up address and the licence plate become visible to both sides once the booking has been paid or the down payment has been made. Before that, communication takes place via the Rentlo chat.

(4) Using Rentlo is free of charge for customers. For rental companies, service fee and payout are governed by the terms for rental companies.

(5) Refunds are made to the payment method you used for the booking.

(6) In the event of unjustified chargebacks or other payment disruptions for which you are responsible, we may claim the resulting damage including external fees.

§ 8a Cash payment with online down payment

(1) Rental companies can allow cash payment for individual vehicles. You can see whether this is possible in the listing and in the booking process.

(2) If you choose cash payment, you pay 10 % of the total price online as a down payment via Rentlo when booking (§ 8). The down payment is credited against the rental price. You pay the rest in cash directly to the rental company at pick-up; the rental company gives you a receipt.

(3) Cash payment only concerns the rental price. § 9 applies to the deposit.

(4) If you do not pay the remaining amount at pick-up, the rental company may refuse to hand over the vehicle; the consequences are governed by the rental contract and the cancellation rules.

(5) If the booking is cancelled, the refund of the down payment is governed by the rental company's cancellation rules. Rentlo cannot refund the remaining amount for you because it was not paid via Rentlo; you direct claims regarding it to the rental company.

(6) The best price guarantee (§ 11b) and Club points (§ 11a) also apply to cash payment, calculated on the total price of the booking.

§ 9 Deposit

(1) Rental companies may require a deposit for a vehicle. The amount and possible types of deposit are shown in the listing and in the booking process.

(2) Online deposit: The deposit is reserved ("blocked") on your payment method via Rentlo, usually one day before the start of the rental. It is not charged as long as the rental company has no claim. Because a reservation is only valid for a limited time (depending on the payment method up to 7 days, with extended authorisation where available up to 30 days), we only offer the online deposit if the reservation covers the entire rental period; for longer rentals you leave the deposit on site (para. 3). You see the limit in the booking process.

(3) Deposit on site: If the rental company offers this, you leave the deposit directly with the rental company at pick-up, depending on the offer for example in cash, by debit card, by credit card or by depositing your own vehicle together with its registration certificate part II (vehicle title). The deposit on site is an agreement between you and the rental company; Rentlo does not hold it and is not involved in it.

(4) No deposit: Rentlo does not currently offer deposit-free rentals for a surcharge.

(5) The rental company decides on release, partial set-off or retention of the deposit in accordance with the rental contract and the return report. For an online deposit, Rentlo collects the amount justified by the rental company and releases the rest. You direct objections to a retention to the rental company; our customer service mediates on request.

§ 10 Cancellation, changes, no-show

(1) You can withdraw a request free of charge at any time until payment.

(2) After payment or down payment, the rental company's cancellation rules shown in the listing and before booking apply. They determine what share of the rental price is refunded in the event of cancellation.

(3) Changes to the rental period, driver, additional services, delivery address or other essential parts of the contract require the rental company's consent.

(4) If you do not show up for the agreed handover or the rental does not take place for reasons for which you are responsible, the consequences are governed by the cancellation rules and the rental contract.

§ 11 Right of withdrawal

(1) There is no statutory right of withdrawal for rental contracts for motor vehicles for a specific date or period (section 312g(2) no. 9 of the German Civil Code, BGB). Voluntary cancellation options result from the rental company's cancellation rules (§ 10).

(2) For contracts that you conclude as a consumer directly with Rentlo, in particular the purchase of gift vouchers and gift kilometres, you have a statutory right of withdrawal. Information, the model withdrawal form and the electronic withdrawal function can be found under Withdrawal.

§ 11a Rentlo Club, points, credit and vouchers

(1) Rentlo Club. With your customer account you are automatically a member of the Rentlo Club free of charge. You collect points, for example for paid and completed rentals, reviews after return and invited friends. How many points you get for what, which ranks exist and which benefits a rank offers is shown in the Club area in its current version. The benefits of a rank (for example Club discount, Club vouchers, car washes and full tanks) only apply with rental companies that take part in the Club as Club partners; they grant and bear these benefits. You find Club partners in the search with the "Club vehicles only" filter, and the Club discount is shown in the price before booking.

(2) Points. There are no points for cancelled bookings; we may deduct points already credited for a booking that is later cancelled. Points are status points for your rank; they cannot be redeemed. Points are not money, are not transferable and are not paid out. After 12 months without a rental, 500 points expire for each further month; your rank follows your points balance. In the event of misuse (§ 5(2) no. 8) we may remove points obtained unlawfully.

(3) Credit. Rentlo credit (for example from the best price guarantee or as a goodwill gesture) can be used for bookings on Rentlo. It is not paid out unless the law requires otherwise.

(4) Gift vouchers and gift kilometres. You buy gift vouchers and gift kilometres directly from Rentlo; here Rentlo is your contracting party. A gift voucher is valid until the end of the third year after the year of purchase and can be redeemed for bookings on Rentlo, also in partial amounts. A cash payout is excluded. Anyone who knows the code of a gift voucher can redeem it; treat it like cash. For the right of withdrawal see § 11(2).

(5) Vouchers and promo codes. Rentlo vouchers and promo codes only apply under the conditions stated (for example minimum amount, period, vehicle category). Unless stated otherwise, they cannot be combined with other promotions and are not paid out in cash.

(6) Rentlo bears discounts, vouchers and promo codes from Rentlo as well as credit; the rental company receives the full agreed rental price for them. Club benefits are granted and borne by the Club partners (para. 1). Rentlo may change or end the Club with at least three months' notice; you can redeem Club vouchers received until then with Club partners until the end of this period.

§ 11b Best price guarantee

(1) If you find a vehicle you book via Rentlo cheaper elsewhere on the same conditions, we compensate the difference as Rentlo credit. Requirements, deadline and procedure are set out in the conditions of the best price guarantee.

(2) The best price guarantee is a voluntary service of Rentlo. Your statutory rights remain unaffected.

§ 12 Obligations of rental companies

(1) Rental companies only offer vehicles that may lawfully be rented out and which they are entitled to rent out.

(2) Rental companies warrant that their vehicles are roadworthy, operational, registered and properly insured at handover.

(2a) Before accepting a request, and at the latest before handover, rental companies check the customer's ID and driving licence using the documents in the booking and the originals at handover, and confirm this in Rentlo.

(3) Rental companies handle requests and bookings carefully, treat Rentlo customers fairly and no worse than their other customers and communicate with customers via Rentlo.

(4) Rental companies offer their vehicles on Rentlo at their normal price, i.e. not more expensive than through their own direct sales channels (no. 14 of the terms for rental companies).

(5) Rental companies are responsible for vehicle condition, listing content, lawfulness of the rental, taxes and duties, deposit, cash payments, claims handling and handover and return.

(6) Further obligations and rights of rental companies are governed by the terms for rental companies.

§ 13 Obligations of customers

(1) You and all additional drivers must hold a valid driving licence sufficient for the vehicle and meet the minimum age and other requirements of the listing.

(2) The vehicle may only be used in accordance with the contract. Unless expressly permitted, the following is prohibited:

  1. handing the vehicle over to unauthorised third parties,
  2. subletting,
  3. races, motor sport, driving on race tracks and grossly improper driving,
  4. journeys contrary to geographical restrictions (for example abroad if the listing does not allow it),
  5. driving without a driving licence or under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication that impair fitness to drive.

(3) You treat the vehicle with care and report damage, accidents, technical problems, theft, breakdowns or official measures to the rental company without undue delay. In accidents involving personal injury or third-party damage you call the police.

(4) You are liable under the rental contract and the statutory provisions for traffic offences, parking offences, tolls, towing costs, excess mileage, special cleaning and other costs caused during the rental period.

(5) You return the vehicle at the agreed time, at the agreed place and in the agreed condition.

§ 14 Damage, protection packages and liability in the rental relationship

(1) You are liable for damage to the vehicle during the rental period in accordance with the rental contract, the agreed excess and the statutory provisions.

(2) Protection packages are a contractual reduction of liability by the rental company and not insurance. Scope and conditions result from the listing and the rental contract. The rental company provides the vehicle's insurance cover.

(3) Rental company and customer document damage in the handover and return report as completely as possible.

(4) Rentlo is neither an insurer nor a claims adjuster and is not obliged to examine, enforce or settle claims between rental company and customer.

§ 15 Processing via Rentlo and ban on circumvention

(1) Rental transactions initiated via Rentlo may not be concluded, extended, invoiced or paid in whole or in part outside the platform. Cash payment of the remaining amount under § 8a is permitted.

(2) Impermissible circumvention exists in particular if

  1. contacts established via Rentlo are used to conclude a rental transaction outside the platform,
  2. prices, payments or rental components are concealed or misrepresented to Rentlo, for example a higher cash amount than stated in the booking process,
  3. contact details, links or messenger names are passed on in listings, profiles, Shorts, stickers or in the chat before payment in order to circumvent processing via Rentlo.

(3) For each culpable breach of paragraph 1 or 2 by a rental company, Rentlo may demand a contractual penalty, the amount of which Rentlo determines at its reasonable discretion taking into account severity, duration and lost service fee, and which can be reviewed by the competent court in the event of a dispute. The right to claim further damages remains reserved; a contractual penalty paid is credited against such damages. No contractual penalty applies to consumers.

(4) Irrespective of this, Rentlo may take measures under § 18.

§ 16 User content and rights of use

(1) Users can post content, for example listings, vehicle descriptions, photos, videos and image series (Shorts), cover images, stickers, profile information, comments, reviews and chat messages.

(2) You warrant that you hold all rights to your content, in particular to image, video, sound and music, that people shown have consented and that your content does not infringe the rights of third parties. Licence plates of other vehicles and people without consent must not be recognisable. Before publishing a Short, the rental company expressly confirms this (rights confirmation).

(3) You grant Rentlo a simple, free of charge, territorially unlimited right, valid for the duration of publication on Rentlo, to store your content on Rentlo, make it publicly accessible and display it. Only this right applies to comments and reviews by customers.

(4) Content of rental companies. Rentlo may also use images, videos, Shorts, sounds, texts and logos that rental companies upload to Rentlo outside the platform free of charge and without limits in territory and time, in particular on social media, for paid advertising and ads, in the newsletter and on its own website and app, and may edit, crop, shorten and subtitle them for this purpose. The scope, sub-licences and duration of this right of use are governed by no. 6 of the terms for rental companies.

(4a) Rentlo may automatically translate texts in listings, vehicle and rental company descriptions and captions of Shorts into other languages and display the translation on Rentlo. We label automatic translations as "Automatically translated" and offer the original. Rental companies can review, edit, confirm or switch off translations in their rental company area. We remove contact details before translation.

Rentlo does not make changes that distort the message of your content. If Rentlo removes an individual sticker or image, § 18 applies.

(5) If you delete content or your contract ends, the right under paragraph 3 ends. For content of rental companies, no. 6 of the terms for rental companies applies.

(6) You indemnify Rentlo against third-party claims based on an infringement of rights by your content for which you are responsible, including reasonable costs of legal defence.

§ 17 Shorts, stickers and votes

(1) Rental companies can publish Shorts with video or images. Every Short of a rental company is linked to a vehicle. Shorts and listings of a rental company only appear after Rentlo has verified the rental company (§ 4(3)); after that we publish them without prior manual review of each item, after an automated check (for example for contact details in texts and captions, malware and permitted formats) and technical processing. A human reviews reported content (§ 18). The short version of the rules can be found under Rules for Shorts and comments.

(2) In particular, the following is not permitted in Shorts: contact details, links and messenger names; prices in stickers; glorification of illegal races, dangerous or reckless driving; content endangering children and young people; people without their consent; other people's licence plates; music, videos or images without rights; discriminatory, insulting or misleading content; competitions without conditions of participation.

(3) Stickers are the "Love-o-Meter" (value from 0 to 100) and the "Poll" (two to four fixed answers). Questions and answers must not ask for personal data, state prices or promise prizes. As soon as votes have been cast for a sticker, the question and answers can no longer be changed.

(4) Only signed-in customers can vote, once per sticker; the vote can be changed or withdrawn. Rental company and staff accounts do not vote. Votes via multiple accounts, purchased votes or automated means are prohibited; Rentlo may remove such votes and block voting.

(5) Voting results are opinion polls on a Short. They are not reviews of the rental company or vehicle and are not included in reviews, trust score or sorting. We only show results to customers and rental companies in aggregated form and only once a sticker has at least 5 votes. Nobody sees who voted how, except Rentlo's moderation team in the event of suspected misuse.

(6) If a published Short is edited, the new version is subject to the same automated checks as on first publication.

§ 17a Advertising in the Shorts feed

(1) In the Shorts feed we show advertising at regular intervals. It is labelled as "Ad"; under "Why am I seeing this?" you see who paid for it and why it is shown to you.

(2) We show ads from Rentlo and directly booked advertising partners without a user profile. We only load ads from Google if you consent in the cookie or privacy settings (see privacy policy, no. 15a). The respective advertiser is responsible for content and offers in ads.

§ 18 Content, moderation and reporting

(1) Principle. Rentlo checks content for violations of the law and these Terms, in particular after reports (para. 6) and with the automated means under para. 3. The standard is the applicable law, these Terms and the Rules for Shorts and comments. In our decisions we take into account the rights and legitimate interests of all parties involved, in particular freedom of expression.

(2) Content concerned. The rules apply to listings, rental company profiles, Shorts, images, cover images, stickers, comments, reviews and chat messages.

(3) Automated measures. We use the following automated means:

  1. a word filter for insults in texts, comments, stickers and reviews,
  2. a filter for links, email addresses, phone numbers and messenger names in listings, profiles, Shorts and stickers; affected texts cannot be saved,
  3. a contact filter in the chat that replaces contact details with a notice until payment,
  4. provisionally hiding a Short or comment as soon as three different accounts have reported it, until a human has reviewed it,
  5. checking uploaded files for malware and permitted formats.

Decisions on the final removal of content and on account suspensions are made by a human. Shorts and listings of verified rental companies appear after the automated checks under nos. 2 and 5 without prior human review; a human reviews reported content (para. 6), and Rentlo may restrict or remove published content at any time under para. 4.

(4) Measures. In the event of a violation, depending on its severity, Rentlo may reject, hide or remove content or restrict its visibility, remove individual stickers or images, block commenting or voting, restrict functions or suspend an account temporarily or permanently. We choose the mildest suitable measure. Anyone who repeatedly posts manifestly illegal content or repeatedly submits manifestly unfounded reports may be suspended for a reasonable period after a prior warning.

(5) Statement of reasons. We inform the affected user of every measure at the latest when it takes effect, with a clear statement of reasons: which measure we have taken, which facts it is based on, whether the decision is based on a notice, whether automated means were used, which legal provision or rule of these Terms the content violates and which remedies are available.

(6) Reporting. Anyone can report illegal content or violations of these Terms, even without an account, via the reporting form or via "Report" on Shorts and comments. A report should identify the content precisely, explain why it is illegal or violates the rules and contain the name and email address of the person reporting. We confirm receipt, review promptly, carefully and objectively and communicate the result.

(7) Complaint. You can object to a decision within six months by replying to our notification or writing to info@rentlo.de. An employee other than the one who decided reviews your complaint. You can also turn to an out-of-court dispute settlement body certified under Art. 21 DSA. Your right to go to court remains unaffected.

(8) Criminal offences. If we become aware of information giving rise to a suspicion of a criminal offence involving a threat to the life or safety of persons, we inform the competent authorities.

§ 19 Data protection

Rentlo processes personal data in accordance with the privacy policy and the applicable data protection laws. The rental company receives the data required for the booking to the extent described there, and at the rental company's request also via an interface in its own software.

§ 20 Liability of Rentlo

(1) Rentlo has unlimited liability for intent and gross negligence, for culpable injury to life, body or health and under the Product Liability Act.

(2) In the event of a slightly negligent breach of essential contractual obligations, i.e. obligations whose fulfilment makes the proper performance of the contract possible in the first place and on whose observance you may regularly rely, Rentlo is only liable for the typical, foreseeable damage.

(3) Otherwise, Rentlo's liability for slight negligence is excluded.

(4) In particular, Rentlo is not liable for the condition, suitability or availability of vehicles, the accuracy of listings, cash payments and deposits on site, the performance of the rental contract and disputes between rental company and customer, unless Rentlo is liable under paragraph 1 or 2.

§ 21 Term, termination and suspension

(1) The user agreement with Rentlo runs for an indefinite period.

(2) Customers can terminate it at any time by deleting their account (Delete account). Open bookings must be completed or cancelled beforehand. Statutory retention obligations remain unaffected. Points, rank and Club vouchers expire upon deletion; purchased gift voucher codes remain redeemable until the end of their validity. For rental companies, the notice periods of the terms for rental companies apply.

(3) Rentlo may terminate the user agreement with customers with two weeks' notice. The right to extraordinary termination for good cause remains unaffected, in particular in the event of serious or repeated violations of these Terms, suspected fraud, misuse or security risks or if required evidence is not provided.

(4) Temporary suspensions and restrictions are governed by § 4 and § 18.

§ 22 Changes to these Terms

(1) Rentlo may amend these Terms with effect for the future if there is a valid reason, in particular in the event of changes in the law, official requirements, new or changed functions of the platform or security requirements.

(2) We inform registered users of changes in text form at least 15 days before they take effect. For rental contracts already concluded, the version displayed at the time of booking applies.

(3) For customers, the amended version takes effect when they accept it, for example at the next sign-in or booking. If you do not accept, you can delete your account at any time. For rental companies, the rules of the terms for rental companies apply.

§ 23 Complaints and dispute resolution

(1) You can address complaints to our customer service (support@rentlo.de or chat in the app).

(2) In disputes between rental company and customer, Rentlo mediates on request but does not decide them bindingly.

(3) Rentlo is neither obliged nor willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

(4) Your right to go to court remains unaffected.

§ 24 Applicable law and place of jurisdiction

(1) The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies to the exclusion of the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, this choice of law only applies insofar as you are not deprived of the protection of mandatory provisions of the country in which you have your habitual residence (for example Austria or Switzerland).

(2) If you are a merchant, a legal entity under public law or a special fund under public law, the exclusive place of jurisdiction is Bonn. For consumers, the statutory places of jurisdiction apply.
