How much does a moving van cost in Nette?

On Rentlo, moving vans around Nette currently start at €89 a day. The final price depends on vehicle size, rental period, kilometres and extras such as a protection package. For a move, it's best to allow a day's buffer so you're not under time pressure.

Which moving van suits which size of home?

As a rough guide, a large van is often enough for a room in a shared flat, while a two- to three-room flat needs a box truck with around 20 m³. For larger flats or houses, a 7.5-tonne truck or a second trip is an option. What really matters is how much furniture you actually take.

Can I drive a moving van on a category B licence?

Yes, as long as the gross weight does not exceed 3.5 tonnes. That applies to vans and compact box trucks. For vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes you need a C1 licence or an old German class 3 licence obtained before 1999.

How early should I book a moving van?

As early as possible, especially for dates at the end of the month, at weekends and in the summer months. That way you have the widest choice of vehicle sizes. When booking, also check the rental company's cancellation terms in case your moving date changes.

Can I return the moving van somewhere else?

Only some rental companies offer one-way rentals, usually for an extra charge. As a rule, you pick the vehicle up in or near Nette and bring it back there. Ask the rental company before booking whether a return at your destination is possible.

How many kilometres are included with a moving van?

That varies by rental company and is shown directly with the offer. For moves within a city, the included kilometres are often enough; for long-distance moves, a mileage package is worthwhile. Remember to count the trip there and back.

Guide

Licence and weight

A category B licence lets you drive vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes gross weight, including vans and compact box trucks. Their payload is often only around one tonne, and heavy boxes of books and solid wood furniture add up quickly. For a 7.5-tonne truck you need a C1 licence or the old German class 3.

Finding the right size

Estimate your moving volume roughly: allow about 10 m³ for a one-room flat and around 20 m³ for two to three rooms. A long high-roof van holds up to about 15 m³, a box truck up to 3.5 tonnes about 18 to 22 m³. If it's tight, take the bigger vehicle, as a second trip usually costs more.

Reserve a no-parking zone in time

So that the moving van can park right outside your door, apply to the city or municipality for a temporary no-parking zone several days to weeks in advance, depending on the location. The signs usually have to be in place a few days before the move. That saves long carrying distances and trouble with parked cars.
