Support & help›Where is Velbert?
Velbert is located in North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany. Neighbouring places are Heiligenhaus, Wuelfrath, Wuppertal and Mettmann.
How much does it cost in Velbert?
Within 50 km there are currently 36 matching vehicles, from €139 a day.
Can I pick up the car at the airport?
The nearest airport is Düsseldorf Airport (DUS), about 20 km away. Many rental companies offer delivery, see each vehicle.
Can the car be delivered in Velbert?
Many rental companies offer delivery and collection. Filter by “delivery” in the search; price and radius are shown on the vehicle.
How old do I have to be to hire a prom car?
Each rental company sets its own rules. Smaller rental cars are sometimes available from 18, while for sports cars and luxury saloons the minimum age for self-drive is usually 21 to 25. On top of that, one to three years of holding a licence are often required. The exact requirements are listed with every offer.
How much does a prom car cost in Velbert?
Prom cars around Velbert currently start at €139 a day. The price depends on the model, the rental period and whether you add a driver. If your group shares a stretch limousine, the cost per person drops considerably.
I'm 18. How can I still arrive at my prom in a sports car?
The easiest way is with a chauffeur, which some rental companies offer. Alternatively, an older person who meets the minimum age and licence requirements and is registered as the driver can drive, for example a parent. Being allowed behind the wheel of a sports car yourself at 18 is rare.
Is a stretch limo worth it for a group?
For a larger group, often yes: you arrive together, have a driver and share the cost. Stretch limousines are generally hired out with a chauffeur. Check the number of seats, the rental period and the rules on drinks in the car beforehand.
Can I drive myself home after the prom?
Only if you are completely sober. In Germany, new drivers on probation and everyone under 21 are subject to a zero-alcohol rule at the wheel, and Austria and Switzerland also have very low limits for new drivers. So plan the journey home in advance: a sober driver, a chauffeur or a taxi.
Can I also hire a car for a Maturaball in Austria?
Yes, on Rentlo you'll also find offers in Austria and Switzerland. Maturabälle often take place in autumn or winter, so a saloon is then usually a better choice than a convertible. The same considerations about minimum age and drivers apply as for a prom in Germany.

Guide
The age issue, honestly explained
Most school leavers are 18 or 19, but many rental companies only hand over sports cars and luxury cars to drivers aged 21 to 25 and over, with several years of driving experience. Smaller cars are sometimes available from 18. The minimum age is shown with every offer. If it doesn't fit, a driver is the best solution.
Three solutions: chauffeur, parents or stretch limo
Some rental companies offer their cars with a chauffeur: you enjoy the evening while someone else drives. Alternatively, parents, older siblings or friends who meet the requirements and are registered as the driver can take the wheel. For the whole group, a stretch limousine with a driver is ideal, and you share the cost.
Alcohol and probationary licences
In Germany, anyone on a probationary licence or under 21 must not drink any alcohol at all before driving, and Austria and Switzerland also have strict limits for new drivers. On the night of the ball, that means either someone stays sober and drives, or you book a driver. Plan the journey home after midnight as well.
