How much does it cost to rent a van in Neuenrade?

On Rentlo, vans around Neuenrade currently start at €89 a day. The final price depends on size, rental period, included mileage and extras such as a protection package or additional driver. For short jobs, many rental companies offer an hourly rate covering 8 hours.

What licence do I need to drive a van?

For vans up to 3.5 tonnes gross weight, a category B licence is enough. That applies to most common models such as the Mercedes Sprinter, VW Crafter, Ford Transit or Fiat Ducato in the 3.5-tonne version. Heavier vehicles require a C1 licence or the old German class 3 licence.

How much fits in a van?

Depending on length and roof height, vans offer roughly 6 to 15 m³ of load space. As a rough guide, a large van is enough to move a small flat; for more rooms you'll often need two trips or a box truck. The dimensions are listed in the vehicle details or available from the rental company.

Can I rent a van by the hour?

Alongside daily rental, many rental companies offer an hourly rate covering 8 hours, ideal for buying furniture or short jobs. You can see which rates are available directly in the offer. Here too, check the included kilometres.

How old do I have to be to rent a van?

The minimum age is set by the rental company and is often between 18 and 25, frequently with at least one year of holding a licence. You'll find the exact requirements with every vehicle. The “Licence held since” filter shows you straight away which offers are an option for you.

Do I need a vignette or toll for the van?

Vans up to 3.5 tonnes don't pay the German truck toll. In Austria and Switzerland you need a vignette for the motorways unless the vehicle already has one. Ask the rental company whether trips abroad are allowed.

Guide

What size do you need?

A short van with a standard roof is enough for single pieces of furniture or a small move; for a whole flat, a long van with a high roof is usually the better choice. Measure bulky items such as wardrobes or sofas beforehand and compare them with the load length, load height and width between the wheel arches. Better one size up than two trips.

Height, width and parking

High-roof vans are often taller than 2.5 m and won't fit in car parks or many underground garages. Watch out for height limits and for mirrors that stick out beyond the vehicle's width. A reversing camera or parking sensors help when manoeuvring, and whether they're fitted is often shown in the vehicle details.

Don't underestimate the payload

With a gross weight of 3.5 tonnes, only a limited payload remains once you subtract the vehicle, driver and passenger. You'll rarely reach it with furniture and boxes, but tiles, drinks or building materials get you there fast. You'll find the figures in the vehicle registration document. If in doubt, ask the rental company.
