Not with most rental companies. A few do set an age limit. In that case, it's stated in the terms of the offer. If in doubt, ask the rental company in advance.
Can I rent an automatic car?
Yes. Whether a vehicle is automatic is shown in the vehicle details of every offer. Automatics are common, especially among larger and newer models. They make city driving much more relaxed.
Will the car be delivered to my home?
Some rental companies offer this for a fee. Look for the note “Delivery available”. Agree the address, time and return with the rental company beforehand. That way you don't have to travel to the rental office first.
Which cars are easiest to get in and out of?
SUVs, MPVs and minivans usually have a higher seating position than small cars, saloons or sports cars. That makes getting in and out easier. Use the category filter to find vehicles like these quickly.
Can my partner drive too?
Yes, if they are registered as an additional driver and meet the rental company's requirements. Additional drivers usually cost extra per day. It's best to register them when you book.
Can I rent a car for my parents or grandparents?
Yes, you can send the request on someone else's behalf and pay for the rental. Important: whoever drives must be registered as the driver, meet the rental company's requirements and show their driving licence and ID at handover.

Is there an upper age limit?
Most rental companies have no upper age limit for rental cars. However, a few set an age limit or ask for additional information from a certain age. Check the terms in the listing and, if in doubt, ask the rental company directly before sending your request.
Driving licence and a second driver
Your driving licence must be valid. Germany has staggered deadlines for exchanging old licences; if you have a paper licence and were born before 1953, you currently have until January 2033 to exchange it. If a second person is going to drive, they must be registered as an additional driver.
Easy access and relaxed driving
Vehicles with a higher seating position, such as SUVs or MPVs, make getting in and out easier. An automatic gearbox takes a lot of work off your hands in city traffic.
