Delete your Rentlo account
This is how you delete your account with Rentlo (the "Rentlo" app for Android and iOS and rentlo.de) and the associated data.
Delete it yourself, immediately
- In the app: go to Profile › Settings › Delete account (at the bottom). The "Delete account" section opens directly. In the browser: sign in at rentlo.de/login and open My account (rentlo.de/account); "Delete account" is at the bottom.
- Enter your password (and your 2FA code if enabled), type the confirmation word shown there (LÖSCHEN or DELETE) and confirm. If your account has no Rentlo password because you sign in with HyghsoftID, typing the confirmation word is enough.
Without signing in
Write to us from the email address of your account to datenschutz@rentlo.de with the subject "Delete account". We delete your account within 30 days and confirm this by email.
Before you delete
- Open bookings must be completed or cancelled first. Rental companies complete open bookings and payouts beforehand.
- Paid credit: Credit from gift vouchers you bought and remaining Rentlo credit you paid for does not simply lapse. Before deleting, use it or ask us to pay it out at support@rentlo.de.
- Club points and free bonus credit expire with the account.
What is deleted and what is not
Deleted: your account, profile and contact details, favourites, search alerts, uploaded identity documents, driving licences and images, chat message content, likes, saved Shorts, follows, your votes in Shorts, Club points and credit. Comments are made unrecognisable, unless they are the subject of an ongoing report. Reviews remain with the name "Former customer".
Kept: booking, payment and invoice data, because statutory retention obligations (German Commercial Code and Fiscal Code) require us to keep them for up to 10 years, pseudonymised and only for that purpose. Data concerning an open report or legal dispute is kept until it is closed.
