Deposit and minimum age
For luxury SUVs, the minimum age is usually 25, often combined with several years of holding a licence. Because of the car's high value, the deposit is considerably higher than for regular rental cars and often runs to several thousand euros. Big, heavy, powerful
Luxury SUVs are wide and heavy, and some have well over 500 hp. Take your time getting used to the dimensions, brakes and acceleration, and avoid tight multi-storey car parks where possible. Cameras and parking sensors help with manoeuvring but don't replace looking around yourself.
Off-road is usually off-limits
Even if a G-Class or Range Rover is highly capable, driving off paved roads is generally excluded in rental contracts. Damage to the underbody, wheels or tyres can otherwise be very expensive. Clarify in advance if you need to take a gravel track to a venue, for example.
