Support & help›Can I drive a 9-seater with a category B licence?
Generally yes: category B covers vehicles up to 3.5 t with up to eight passenger seats in addition to the driver's seat. However, the rental company may require a higher minimum age or more years of driving experience. You'll find the conditions with every offer.
Can several club members drive?
Yes, as long as they're all registered as drivers and meet the rental company's requirements. Additional drivers are usually charged per day. It's better to register one driver too many than to be left without a backup in an emergency.
Can the invoice be issued to the club?
You sign the rental contract directly with the rental company. Add the club's name and billing address to your request so the invoice is issued accordingly. Agree in advance who signs on behalf of the club.
How do we take equipment and sports gear with us?
With every seat taken, load space in a minibus is tight. For larger amounts, a trailer is suitable if the vehicle has a tow bar, or a second vehicle such as a van. Ask the rental company about towing capacity and equipment.
Can we drive the minibus abroad for a tournament?
That depends on the rental company. Many only allow trips to certain countries if agreed in advance, sometimes for a fee. Clarify this before booking and remember vignettes or tolls in the destination country.
How early should we send a request?
Minibuses are in high demand at weekends, during the tournament season and in the school holidays. Send your request as soon as the date is fixed. You can see the cancellation terms in the offer beforehand, which is important if a match gets rescheduled.

Registering several drivers
On long away trips, drivers should take turns. Everyone who drives must be registered with the rental company and meet its requirements; additional drivers are usually charged per day. If someone who isn't registered drives, the cover from the rental contract may not apply in the event of damage. Plan breaks and make sure whoever is at the wheel is well rested.
Equipment and trailers
With nine people on board, there's little luggage space left in a minibus. For kit, balls, instruments or gazebos, a trailer is often the better solution. Check beforehand whether the vehicle has a tow bar and what towing capacity is allowed. Depending on the total weight of the combination, a category B licence may not be enough, in which case you'll need B96 or BE.
Billing and youth teams
Have the invoice issued to the club and agree in advance who signs the rental contract and pays the deposit. If you're travelling with children or teenagers, the rules for child seats and booster seats also apply in a minibus. Agree with parents who is travelling, and keep a list of all passengers to hand.
