Plan for winter: convertibles only up to a point
In mid-February it's usually cold in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, often wet and sometimes icy. A convertible then only makes sense with the roof closed, so a saloon or a sports car with a fixed roof is usually the better choice. Make sure the car has winter-ready tyres. This is standard for rental cars at this time of year, but ask if in doubt. With a powerful rear-wheel-drive car in snow: drive gently.
