Support & help›Can I hire a car with a chauffeur for the proposal?
Some rental companies offer their cars with a driver. The advantage is that you can focus entirely on the moment and don't have to drive afterwards. Whether a chauffeur is available is shown in the offer or can be clarified in your request.
What if it rains on the day of the proposal?
If you've chosen a convertible, plan an alternative and ask the rental company whether a closed car is available. A classic car with a fixed roof or a saloon is less dependent on the weather. Also check the cancellation terms in case you want to move the date.
How early should I reserve the car?
For weekends and popular dates such as public holidays or Valentine's Day, ideally a few weeks ahead. On weekdays, less notice is often enough. The earlier you send your request, the bigger the choice.
Can my partner drive too?
Only if your partner is registered as an additional driver and meets the rental company's requirements. Many rental companies offer this for a daily fee. As this usually requires licence details, for a surprise it's often easier if you drive alone or book a chauffeur.
What is Rentlo?

Which payment methods are available?
Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Revolut Pay, iDEAL and Klarna. For some vehicles you can pay 10 % online and the rest in cash at pick-up.
Do I have to pay a deposit?
The rental company decides per vehicle. Many deposits can be paid online; otherwise on site.

Guide
Weather and a plan B
A convertible at sunset is a dream. In the rain, less so. Check the forecast and ask the rental company whether you can switch to a closed car. Also read the cancellation terms: they are staggered differently by each rental company and help if you need to move the date.
Plan the place and route in advance
Choose a place that means something to you both or has a beautiful view, and if possible drive the route once beforehand. Check whether you're allowed to stop or park there and how busy it is at the planned time. Roughly work out the distance so the included kilometres are enough. A restaurant as the final stop rounds off the evening.
Chauffeur: a clear head for the moment
With a driver you can focus entirely on the proposal and raise a glass together afterwards. Some rental companies offer convertibles, classic cars or saloons with a chauffeur. Brief the driver on the plan beforehand so they stop at the right moment or discreetly keep their distance.
