Tip for your first ride
Before setting off, get familiar with the brakes, indicators and stand and do a test lap away from traffic. Check that the lights and mirrors are set correctly. Photos of the scooter at handover protect you if there are questions about scratches on return.
Which licence for which scooter?
For scooters up to 50 cc and 45 km/h you need category AM, which in Germany and Austria is included in the category B car licence. For a 125 cc you need category A1; in Germany B196 also works, in Austria B with code 111. Both extensions are only valid in their own country, and Switzerland has its own rules: there, scooters usually require category A1.
