Don't underestimate the payload
With a gross weight of 3.5 tonnes, only a limited payload remains once you subtract the vehicle, driver and passenger. You'll rarely reach it with furniture and boxes, but tiles, drinks or building materials get you there fast. You'll find the figures in the vehicle registration document. If in doubt, ask the rental company.
Mileage, fuel and return
Many rental companies include a set number of kilometres per day and charge extra for each additional kilometre. Plan your trips realistically and take a mileage package for longer distances. Clarify the fuel policy and take photos of the load area and bodywork at handover, as they protect you when you return the van.
