Support & help›Are new cars more expensive than older rental cars?
They're often slightly more expensive, but not necessarily. What matters is the vehicle class, season and rental company. Compare the offers and look at the final price including extras.
Is the deposit higher for new cars?
The deposit depends on the value of the car and the rental company's requirements. For new, high-end models it may be higher. You'll see the exact amount and accepted payment methods in every offer.
How many kilometres has a rented new car already done?
That varies: even recent rental cars have usually been in use for a while. Record the mileage at handover in the handover report and in photos. If very low mileage matters to you, ask the rental company in advance.
Do new cars have more driver assistance systems?
Usually yes, as many safety assistants are now standard on new cars. Which systems are on board depends on the model and trim level. Ask for the functions to be explained at handover.
Are there new cars with unlimited mileage?
Each rental company decides this itself. With many offers the included kilometres are limited per day, and some rental companies offer mileage packages. You'll see the terms directly in the offer.
What is Rentlo?
Rentlo is a marketplace for all kinds of rental vehicles in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. You rent directly from verified local rental companies.
How does renting in Bavaria work?
Choose a vehicle, pick your dates and send a request. Once the rental company confirms, you pay securely online and collect the car or have it delivered.
When do I pay?
Only once the rental company has confirmed your request. Payment runs via Stripe.
Which payment methods are available?
Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Revolut Pay, iDEAL and Klarna. For some vehicles you can pay 10 % online and the rest in cash at pick-up.
Do I have to pay a deposit?
The rental company decides per vehicle. Many deposits can be paid online; otherwise on site.
Show all 15 questions
How old do I need to be?
Minimum age and licence duration are shown on each vehicle.
How is the vehicle insured?
Vehicles are insured by the rental company, which sets cover and excess.
What is the best price guarantee?
Rental companies offer their vehicles on Rentlo at the same price as directly. Found it cheaper? Let us know.
Can I cancel?
Before confirmation you can withdraw for free. After that the rental company's cancellation terms apply.
Is there a Rentlo app?
Yes, for iPhone and Android, including Rentlo Shorts with real videos and sound.
Guide
What counts as a new car?
This means recent cars from the current or previous model year, not necessarily cars with zero kilometres. The exact year is shown in every offer, and the year filter helps you find the newest cars. If a particular model year matters to you, ask the rental company.
Getting to know driver assistance systems
New cars often have lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, emergency braking assist and parking aids. Some systems intervene noticeably, which can feel unfamiliar. Ask to be shown the main functions at handover and try them out on quiet roads first. You remain responsible, though.
Testing a model in everyday life
A rented new car is a good way to experience a model in everyday life before buying: does the boot suit your needs, how does it drive on the motorway, what is the fuel consumption? Allow a weekend or a few days for this. Make sure the engine and equipment match the model you're interested in.
