You need to clarify this with the rental company in advance. Private souvenir photos are usually unproblematic, but separate conditions often apply to advertising, product shots or paid collaborations. Get the agreement confirmed in writing before the images are published.

That depends on the usage and the rental company. Some rental companies want number plates made unrecognisable, for example in post-production. You may only cover or remove them while the car is on private, closed-off ground, never on public roads.

For simple photos without any set-up in a public space, often not. But for commercial shoots, road closures or larger equipment, frequently yes. The city or municipality is usually responsible. On private property, you need the owner's permission.

Normal driving on public roads is usually allowed with a valid licence if you're registered as the driver. Drifts, burnouts or risky manoeuvres for spectacular images, however, are excluded in rental contracts. Plan driving shots with the rental company. Some can also provide their own driver.
